Issue The G network is not showing up as a choice on the list of available networks on a Chromebook. Likely Cause The student has accidentally (or on purpose) clicked the Forget This Network option on the connection. There also might be some other problem with their profile or settings. Check For These Things Ask the client if they have recently made any changes to their settings. Ask about the circumstances that led to the problem. How to Fix It Try powering the computer all the way down and then turn it back on and login to see if the network appears in their settings. If this doesn't work, try logging them out of the Chromebook and removing their profile from the login screen. Then have them log back into the device. If that doesn't work, you may need to refer them to the IT staff office in D103. Also... If it can be avoided, do not advise the client to get on BYOT or Guest newtorks.
Issue The client has a wireless signal on their Chromebook, and they may even be able to see one or two pages they commonly use (e.g. Neuqua Student, Google Drive), but when they try to connect to any other site, they get a message that says they don't have an Internet connection. Likely Cause The client is not currently authenticated (logged in) in to the Lightspeed Web filter, and they need to do so before they can use the Internet. The web filter login page is not automatically authenticating the client account on start up. Lightspeed Systems, the company that makes our filtering software is working on a solution to fix the issue that so that Google accounts in Chrome will automatically authenticate and this should be less of a problem in the future.
